Amy Wilson, Owner & principal consultant, SEE Renewal, LLC, was invited by the National Tribal Land Association Board to present at the 2021 Tribal Land Staff National Conference hosted virtually last month by the Indian Land Tenure Foundation and the National Tribal Land Association. It was a great experience; we enjoyed all the questions at the end of the presentation and we are looking forward to next year’s conference. SEE Renewal’s presentation titled, “Spatial Organization & Land-Use Patterns” is now available for viewing.

Session topic:  Spatial Organization & Land Use Patterns

Session date:   March 23, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Central Standard Time

The purpose of the session is to encourage participants to think about lands within their jurisdiction as spatially organized systems that, whether planned or unplanned, result in land use patterns over time. The goal is of the session is that participants will (1) develop the framework needed to begin to assess lands within their nation, (2) evaluate the various jurisdictional authorities the Tribal government has over land use, (3) identify land use plans, policies and procedures as formalized “tools” that can be used to influence more positive land patterns, (4) consider current land use practices within their nation, and contemplate which tools might be used to encourage more optimal use of lands and resources.
