She has experience working with private-sector businesses, industry representatives, and intermediary stakeholders on a range of projects and issues relating to land use, energy development, tribal and off-reservation communities, economic development, local and regional planning, and organizational management..
- Amy holds a master’s degree in Resources Law from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado Denver. Prior to pursuing her graduate studies, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Colorado State University and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from San Juan College. Amy also completed the National Certified Public Manager Program and holds the nationally accredited public manager certification.
- Her knowledge of Indian country and tribal government developed through several years of formal education, training, and professional experience. While obtaining her degree in resources law, she studied federal Indian law. She focused her urban and regional planning master’s thesis on tribal and federal authorities over native land and mineral resources. Amy worked at the Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development (IEED) under the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) and Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs (AS-IA) for five years. During her tenure with the DOI, she served as a legal documentation specialist, senior regulatory policy analyst, and, finally, program analyst.
- While at the IEED, Amy gained invaluable experience, she worked on many high-level and complicated projects involving tribal economies, American Indian lands and resources, on-reservation energy development, and program management. During her career, she has developed a record of successful demonstrations of her expert knowledge about multijurisdictional environments, government processes, policy, land use, economic development, and energy. In 2019, Amy relocated to her home state of New Mexico to start SEE Renewal. She now resides in Albuquerque with her dog, Stuart.
Amy Wilson of SEE Renewal helped us turn our vision into a comprehensive plan that honors our Tribe’s land and culture while addressing complex challenges like climate change, water supply, various types of land ownership, housing, and more. SEE facilitated a robust public participation component to ensure our people had several opportunities to contribute to the planning process, which is vital to any successful plan.
MIC owes a debt of gratitude to Ms. Wilson for her dedication and strong personal interest and commitment to the Metlakatla Indian Community. Over the years, she assisted MIC in developing multiple significant plans and supported MIC in implementing those plans. She also assisted us in building internal capacity by providing excellent mentorship to MIC’s staff. Amy is a fierce advocate, an empowering partner, and a skilled planner and analyst. Her authenticity and good-hearted nature have earned our trust. As Mayor of the Metlakatla Indian Community, I wholeheartedly recommend and endorse Amy Wilson for her tireless work ethic, talent, and sterling character.
Ms. Wilson assisted MIC while working for the Office of Indian Energy. She helped us identify the planning needs of the Tribe and develop the planning documents that would be necessary to equip MIC with the resources needed to accomplish future goals. I worked directly with Ms. Wilson, developing the Tribe’s Emergency Preparedness Response Plan, the Strategic Plan, and the Land Use Development Plan. At the end of the process, I can honestly say that I find myself a much stronger technical writer and have increased skills in conducting effective outreach, research, and mediating large group work sessions. With Ms. Wilson’s mentorship, MIC now has a greater capacity to write professional documents for legislation, proposals, and public statements.
Ms. Wilson is very professional and articulate in her work ethic. She has the educational credentials and work experience to be a major component in the renewable energy field and in economic development planning for any entity that desires and needs professional help. Ms. Wilson worked with the Crow Tribe of Indians for four years while in her previous position. She has been instrumental in the early-stage development of the Tribe’s hydro-electric power plant. She has also assisted the Tribe by developing a strategic energy plan that includes solar and wind energy development projects. Ms. Wilson worked with me and other leaders to develop an economic plan for four major sites on the Crow Tribe Reservation. As the former Energy Director of the Crow Tribe of Indians, I recommend her.
It is rare to find a consultant who is able to work with and understand the cultural values and views of Native Americans. Ms. Wilson’s background in energy, economic development, and policy was extremely useful and valuable and her tireless efforts helped FMCV to focus and prioritize the needs of our community.

Personal Note
I am thrilled to have started SEE Renewal and I look forward to continuing to do the work that I love. I’m excited to build a strong team, meet new people, grow relationships, gain new experiences and to keep learning from those around me by gaining new perspectives of a world that I’m so blessed and proud to be a part of.
I feel incredibly grateful for the life experiences and learning opportunities that I’ve had to this point. SEE Renewal is the next phase in my personal and professional journey. Starting SEE Renewal is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Not only because of the pandemic, but also because of the many challenges that go along with starting a company from scratch. There are so many emotions involved in trying to build something from nothing – moments of self-doubt and others of “it’s gonna be okay.”
But I have comfort in knowing that I started SEE Renewal for the right reasons and that I’m doing the right thing. I’m fully committed the work that I do and completely dedicated to the people that I serve. Most importantly, I’m secure in knowing that SEE Renewal is built on a foundation of respect, honesty, and expertise.
I’m genuinely grateful for your interest in SEE Renewal. I’m always excited to discuss new projects, consider complex challenges and brainstorm ideas with potential clients. I encourage you to reach out to me to learn more about what we do at SEE Renewal and to see if we might be the right fit for you.
Sincerely,
Amy J. Wilson
