Donald Moore, Indigenous Agriculture & Community Development Liaison
Donald Moore is Yurok and Hupa with Karuk and Tolowa descent. Donald studied Environmental Studies and Native American Indigenous Studies at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and has professional experience in agriculture, food security, and natural resource conservation. His past work includes serving as a youth mentor, where he led cultural classes and managed caseloads with individual school-aged children. He also has experience working at and researching local farmer’s markets, where he studied market behavior, structure, and consumer engagement. He has interned with well-known organizations that support Native American agricultural communities, including the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and Intertribal Agricultural Council (IAC). During these internships, he focused on projects aimed at enhancing food security by making sustainable local food more accessible to low-income populations through leading cooking classes and garden tours and conducting planning initiatives.
As SEE Renewal’s Indigenous Agriculture & Community Development Liaison, Donald provides onsite and remote planning and technical support on community, economic development, and agricultural planning projects. He has contributed fantastic work for the Hoopa Valley Tribe Agriculture Conservation & Resiliency Plan and General Plan Project, which includes developing educational handout materials on local food production, leading garden tours, and formulating surveys. Donald is passionate about agriculture and food security. He is excited to work with tribes and native communities throughout the nation on projects involving agriculture, food security, community development, and tribal economies.
